Terms of Service
Last updated 3 August 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Cordia Home School ("Cordia", "we", "us") when you create an account or subscribe. We have written them to be read, not skimmed — the two sections that matter most are Your responsibility as a home educator and How AI is used. By creating an account you accept these terms.
1. What Cordia is — and what it is not
Cordia is a home-education platform. It generates lesson plans, activities, stories and learning materials personalised to your child, aligned to the Australian Curriculum, and gives you tools to record and review their work.
Cordia is not a school. We do not enrol students, we are not a registered school or distance-education provider, we do not issue qualifications, and using Cordia does not by itself satisfy any legal requirement relating to your child's education.
2. Your responsibility as a home educator
In every Australian state and territory, the legal responsibility for a home-educated child's education rests with theparent or guardian — including registering with your state or territory authority, meeting its requirements, keeping the records it asks for, and taking part in any reviews it runs.
We build Cordia to help you meet that responsibility well: curriculum mapping, work samples, progress records and printable evidence are all designed with registration in mind. But helping you meet it is all we can do. Using Cordia does not transfer any part of that legal responsibility to us, and you agree that it always remains yours.Information Cordia provides about registration and state requirements is general information, not legal advice — always confirm with your state or territory authority.
3. How AI is used, and its limits
Cordia's learning materials are generated by artificial intelligence and shaped by systems we have built around it. We take that seriously: content passes through multiple layered checks before it reaches a child — automated curriculum and quality gates, content rules written into the generation pipeline, and review tools for parents. Where a child can interact with AI (for example, asking a question about a lesson), those exchanges run inside guardrails we designed for children and are visible to the parent account.
AI is not perfect and cannot be made perfect. Despite these layers, AI systems can produce content that is inaccurate, incomplete, or — very rarely — inappropriate. You agree that:
- you are responsible for supervising your child's use of Cordia and reviewing the materials your child works from;
- we do not warrant that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, or suitable for your child's specific circumstances;
- to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from AI-generated content, beyond the remedies described in section 8;
- if you find content that concerns you, you will tell us (there is a report control in the app, or email us) so we can fix the material and the system that produced it.
4. Accounts and family use
Accounts are created and held by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over. Child profiles exist inside a parent's account and are controlled by the parent; children use Cordia under their parent's supervision and authority. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity that happens under your account. One subscription covers one household's children unless your plan says otherwise.
5. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation
Paid plans are billed in advance through our payment provider (Stripe). You can cancel at any time from your account or by emailing us; cancellation stops future renewals and your access continues to the end of the period already paid. Where a free trial is offered, you will not be charged before the trial ends. Prices can change, but never mid-period, and founding-family pricing commitments we have made are honoured for as long as the subscription stays active. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including remedies for services not delivered as promised.
6. Fair use and safety limits
Generation features carry per-family limits that reset daily and monthly. They exist to keep the service fast and affordable for everyone and to protect against runaway automated use; a normal family's use never approaches them. We may suspend accounts that attempt to abuse, resell, scrape, reverse-engineer or disrupt the service, or that use it for any purpose other than educating the children in your own household.
7. Your content and ours
Work your family creates and uploads — writing, drawings, photos of worksheets, diary entries — stays yours. You give us the licence needed to store it, process it and show it back to your family, and nothing more. Lesson materials Cordia generates for your child are yours to use for your family's education, including printing and keeping them for registration evidence; they are not for republishing or resale. The Cordia platform, brand and content systems remain ours.
8. Liability
Australian Consumer Law gives you guarantees that cannot be excluded, and nothing in these terms attempts to. To the extent the law allows us to limit liability, our total liability for any claim connected to the service is limited to re-supplying the service or refunding the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim; and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. In particular, and without limiting section 2: we are not liable for the outcome of any registration application, review or decision made by an education authority in relation to your child.
9. Changes and ending the agreement
We will update these terms as the product grows. For material changes we will tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect; continuing to use Cordia after that is acceptance. You can close your account at any time. We can end or suspend an account for breach of these terms, and will say why.
10. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Questions, concerns and complaints:support@cordiahomeschool.com.au— a person reads that inbox.
How we handle your family's information — including your child's — is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
